The Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) building on University and Mesa Vista will now feature an athletic track. Complete with a grass infield, concrete pads for drill formations and additional parking, the project is expected to finish in September. The original vision for the ROTC building, which opened in 2023, was to have a 1/4-mile track, but budget constraints have limited it to 1/8-mile. Having previously relied on the Johnson Center for training, cadets will now have to cross University Boulevard less often, which is a safer arrangement, according to UNM. The budget for the project is just over $1.5 million. Click here for more info.
